Delivering Change

Viable Ventures learns that the strategic roadmap teased out of 3 session workshop delivered over 18-months has been a huge success, and all the recommendations have been implemented.  The IT structure needed to underpin the company’s processes was developed and is now running seamlessly throughout the whole fabrication, maintenance and repair departments.

Moray-IT

Owner says “we could haven’t done it without you; thanks”.  VV worked with a local IT company to define and implement a Strategy to align resources, cashflow and skills to satisfy customer demand.  A programme delivered over a year period through monthly mini-workshops and focus groups, focusing on strategy of the business, ordering/pricing, marketing and company HR, and weekly mentoring to key personnel. The project has transformed the Company’s performance, finances and overall standing in less than a year.

Aker Solutions Ltd

Viable Ventures have been engaged in a number of business improvement activities within Aker Solutions Ltd in Aberdeen.  Supporting SMAS as a 3rd Party provider of Lean Business Improvement, VV has been hailed as producing the best ROI for any SMAS engagement.  A 5 Day Value Stream Analysis (VSA) was carried out that identified the improvement activities needed in order to increase production in order to meet substantially increased targets for 2012/13.  Following on from the VSA, Viable Ventures assisted in embedding a 5S Work Place Organisation project that would lay the foundations for future improvement activities.  Since then VV have assisted in a number of projects supporting Aker’s continuous improvement program.

SMAS Support

Viable Ventures has just come to the end of a 3-year period of providing 3rd party SMAS consultancy, and during the time they have been involved with over 15 companies, delivering over 110 days of support to Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service.  This has been undertaken with manufacturing clients whose industry sectors range from marina deign, to converting campervans, to subsea electronics.  They are now looking forward to the next contractual framework period set to run from Oct 12 to Sept 15.

Woolard and Henry

Located in a part of Scotland which is now the Oil & Gas Capital of Europe, Woollard and Henry have diversified into fabricating Personnel transfer Vessels for the Offshore Energy markets. Work in the fabrication sector has led to the winning of a Queens Award for International Trade.

Assistance was required to process map the Frog (Personal Transfer Vessel) fabrication line and identify process improvement opportunities where possible.  As 3rd Party SMAS practitioners VV facilitated a process mapping exercise that covered the Frog fabrication line and supporting functions.  The project was delivered over 3 one-day workshops.

A detailed implementation plan was created that would allow the Company to remove  ‘waste’ and create benefit.  The total ‘Value-Added’ savings for the 3-day project were accessed at £26K.
